Senora Cranky Pants!!!

A few months after we moved in to our apartment, we started getting phone calls and letters from the apartment manager, and the property management telling us that our downstairs neighbor had been complaining that we were too noisy.

We made an effort to be quiet, keep our active 2 year old quiet, and not to do laundry too late. A week before Christmas, I came home to a letter taped on the door telling us that we had 10 days to comply with her "demands" or we would be evicted from our apartment. We talked with the apartment manager, and he was pretty cool about the whole thing. He told us that we couldn't get evicted because we had a two year old who ran around our apartment, and in essence it would be her word against ours. One night she had called him to ask him to come listen to how noisy we were being. He also has two small children, and told her that while yes he could tell we were home upstairs, he didn't think we were making excessive noise. So that was when she called the property management and told them that not enough was being done about her "rude" neighbors. Hence, shortly after came the compliance letter.

We did our best to try to be more quiet and tried even harder to keep Carson quiet, and it has now been about a year and a half since we have heard anything from her. We tried to be proactive in the friendly neighbor department, wave on your way by, or a friendly hello in the parking lot. It seemed to help since we hadn't heard from her in quite sometime.

Then, this morning, I woke up, and wanting to get a jump start on the day got some laundry going. Keep in mind, it is twenty after 8. Garry and I have both been known to sleep long past 8 on a Saturday, but we both went to bed rather early last night, and just woke up. It is somewhat early, but I didn't feel unreasonably early to start with the house work.

So I get the laundry going, and not five minutes later, crazy lady downstairs starts pounding on the ceiling, not just the friendly hey you guys are making a lot of noise pounding, more like the I wish I good rip your throat out kind of pounding. Garry was in the bathroom, and could hear her screaming obscenities which we won't repeat here because this is a family blog. We decided to call the apartment manager and at least leave a message trying to be proactive about not getting evicted four weeks before we buy a house. (More on that and pictures soon) So the guy calls us back, BTW new guy from the one we dealt with before. Garry kind of fills him in on our previous history with the crazy lady, and he tells Garry that it's okay because she has some other issues, and he will try to take care of it for us.

So here's hoping we don't have to live in our car for 2-3 weeks before we close on our house. CHEERS!

Oh man, the anticipation, but I guess I can't complain because I did the same thing. :) I was just too lazy to type anymore today, and we are getting an inspection done on Wednesday, so I thought I would take some pictures and post about it after that. Good luck, I can't wait to hear all about Richland!
