As a child in elementary school, I was taught to cough into my hand to catch germs from spreading in the air. It wasn't until college/teaching (or maybe before?) that they started trying to get people to cough into their elbow or sleeve. This was a very hard habit for me to break, and I still have to at times consciously remember to cough into my elbow.
We went to breakfast today, and I coughed into my elbow, and Natalie looks right at me and then pretends to cough into her elbow. I was quite elated! How exciting to know that she will never know another way!
