up all of our Easter Bunny stuff we would just do the Easter Bunny thing on Saturday, and then not have to worry about it.
The last couple of years we have had late church, and it hasn't really been a big deal to get up and have time to do the Easter Basket, and then still get ready for church. However, this year we have church at 9 am. (I know really early). I was just feeling like I didn't want to have to rush or get up at 6 am to make sure we got to church on time.
I have also been thinking a lot about how commercialized all of our holidays get, and don't like that it takes the importance off of why we celebrate Easter. Easter symbolizes the resurrection of our Savior who died so that we might live, and return to live with him again someday. He paid the ultimate price, and through his atonement we are able to have the opportunity to repent for our sins, and strive to become more like Him. I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to teach this to my son, and even though he may not be able to fully grasp how important it is now, I am hoping that maybe by separating some of the secular things out of our Sunday tradition, he will eventually be able to gain a greater understanding.
So long in short, the Easter Bunny came to our house last night. Carson was very excited. He feel asleep about 5:45 last night. I always get torn when he falls asleep early, if we wake him up he is usually grumpy, and then he doesn't want to go to bed until very late. Then, if we just let him sleep he gets up incredibly early the next morning (well, incredibly early for a Saturday). We decided to just let him sleep, but of course that meant he was trying to peel my eyelids back at 6:30, Mom, Mom... The Easter Bunny came, and he brought me some cool stuff, you gotta come look. So after going to check it all out, he decided it would be okay to watch one of his new movies, so mom and dad could sleep in a little longer. What a nice boy!
He was so excited to get all of his stuff though. I actually bought his train set when it was on sale at Target for $20 in October. I contemplated giving it to him for Christmas, and then had intended to give it to him for his birthday, but decided he was getting enough different things, and waited until Easter. I think it was well worth the wait though, he's been playing with it all day.
At the Easter Egg Hunt, we enjoyed the downpour and mud! Carson is so funny about stuff sometimes. Mom, I have dirt on my hands, and they're cold. I told him to put his hands in his pockets to warm them up. He tells me, no, I can't, then my pockets will get all dirty. I looked at him and said, I thought you were supposed to be a boy. He gets all offended and says, I am, A VERY DIRTY BOY!!! Geez, you'd think I lived in a spotless house or something. AGHHHH!
