Last Marching Band Trip

We went with the Marching Band for their final trip this last weekend. It was quite fun. All in all, Carson has been a fantastic traveler since he was 4 days old, and we had to take him on an airplane because my car blew up. This trip was no exception! We rode the bus over and back, and he thinks he is one of the "big kids." I'm sure if we let him, he would just go home with them. When it came time to go to sleep, he was more than a little disappointed that he didn't get to sleep in the same gym as the kids and had to stay with boring mom and dad, but we made it!

When we got to Seattle on Friday afternoon, the kids had a few hours to run around and explore Pike's Place and the vicinity, Carson thought it was great but had a hard time understanding why it was more important than ever that he stay by us and hold hands.

On Saturday, it was cool because as well as having a marching competition, it is in coincidence with Auburn's Veteran's Day Festivities, so the kids marched in the parade in the morning, and then did the competition early afternoon. It made for a long day because the retreat was not until 10:00pm. But ended up being well worth it because the band placed 3rd out of 10 in their division which was really great! Carson once again had a great time with the kids, he was very excited to purchase his new scarf and be more like the kids.

On Sunday before we traveled home, we took the kids to the EMP, "Experience the Music Project." It was very cool. I went there I think it must have been 7 or 8 years ago, and it of course has changed quite dramatically in that time, but it was still very cool. Carson loved playing on all of the instruments, and got quite the kick out of singing with the different effects in the vocal box. I think his favorite part though was the robot exhibit in the discovery part of the EMP. He wanted to take them all home. "That one's cool mom, how much can we borrow it for?" Interpretation: I want to buy that. We ended up with a drum set christmas ornament, and he seemed to think that was okay. After another long bus ride, we made it back to Spokane, and called it an early night!
