When we decided to move to Washington for Garry to accept a teaching position, one of the hoops that he had to jump through was the Praxis II test to get his Washington Teaching Certificate. When we both graduated from Idaho Universities the Praxis was not a current requirement to be certified in the state of Idaho. So we both taught for a few years in Idaho, and didn't ever really think about the Praxis.
As he was getting his temporary certification for the state of Washington they told him he had 1 year to complete the Praxis in order to receive his official certification. Being that he also had to teach throughout the school year, he felt slightly overwhelmed at taking the test until June. So he got signed up and made the long trek to Ellensburg, WA to take the test. After signing up for 3 sections of the test, he got home a little frazzled because the other teacher taking only 1 section of the test told him he didn't think he had to take all three. When he finally got through the the state agency, they confirmed that yes in fact he only really needed to take the 1 section. So $160 and 4 hours later, he was praying that he would pass the only section of the test that mattered.
We waited and waited for his test results, and it seemed as if they would never come. But alas they finally arrived 4 weeks and 5 days after taking the test.
AND................He Passed. Yeah for still being employed!
