Swim team

We talked with Grandma and decided to send Carson down early so that he could swim for 4 weeks this summer. It was better than last year. But he still did quite a bit of wailing the first two weeks........thankfully (for me) those were the two weeks before I got there, but my mom and sister Kori had to listen to him scream like a banshee, before they could finally convince him that he was going to learn to swim.

Once I made it to S. Idaho, Carson didn't have any more screaming days, and he is swimming well enough now that I think I could put him on a little team up here and he would do okay now.

This was the first meet after I got there, and he was excited, and he did really well. Because there were a few kids out of town, he got to do a relay, so he got four ribbons for the day, which was exciting for him.
The next week the meet was in Twin Falls, and he did get a little faster. Notice he is wearing different goggles than the first week.....I felt like a bad mom! Last summer we bought a slip n' slide that was 3D and it came with goggles. Let me first state that I know how 3D glasses work. But with the goggles, they had red and blue lenses, but I thought they were just colored, I didn't know that they actually distorted things. Carson was determined to wear the buzz light year goggles, and I told him that was fine. After I got down to Twin, my mom asked if I knew they were 3D goggles, and I said ya, why? And she's like, no you can't see out of them. Sure enough I put them on, and the whole world turned blurry. Carson kind of threw a fit when I told him that he couldn't wear them anymore, but lo and behold he actually swam in a straight line at this meet!
Carson did really well at the championship meet. He cut 11 seconds off of his time on both backstroke and freestyle. I bribed him the whole week before, and finally he was figuring it out.

I was very proud of him of 14 boys ages 6 & under he placed 3rd which was pretty exciting!
Here is his backstroke race.

And here is the freestyle.

Fun times to be had a grandma's house!
