Poor kiddo!

Before we left to go to my sister's weddings, Carson had been coughing off and on since the middle of January, so we finally went to get a chest x-ray to see what was going on, and found that he had a mild case of walking pnemonia......YUCK!!!! So the dr. prescribed an amoxycillian combination drug in hopes of clearing up the infection in his lunges. Garry and I are both allergic to penicillian, and so up to this point, we have avoided giving our kids any of the medicines in the penicillian family. But our dr. thought this would kill the infection the best so we decided to try it. I took Natalie in two days later because she had developed a cough very similar to Carson's, and after straping her into this torture device to get an x-ray, found she was in the beginning stages of also having walking pnemonia, and the dr. prescribed just amoxycillian for her. So their prescriptions are about two days apart.

We knew we were going to leave Carson at my mom's for a couple weeks, so I reminded her a lot to make sure he takes him medicine, so his lungs clear up. Well, Garry and I flew home on Sunday night, and on Tuesday morning my sister called and said that Carson had gotten a rash, and wondered if he had already gotten the chicken pox. I told her to send me a picture, and I decided that I didn't think it was chicken pox, but a reaction to his medicine. He had gotten pink eye last year, and the dr. prescribed a sulpha medication, and he had an allergic reaction with that as well, so I was reasonably sure that was what it was. We called the dr., just to double check, and she said to just give him some benedryl as long as he just had a rash, and if he developed any breathing problems to take him to the ER.

He seemed a little better on Tuesday afternoon and evening, and then when he woke up this morning, his whole face was swollen, so I had my mom take him into urgent care, and they ended up giving him a steriod shot to stop the swelling. Talk about scary! I couldn't believe it when I looked at the pictures, the poor kid is a mess. But thankfully, he looks much better tonight.
