Pottery

I began my first pottery endeavor about a year ago. I thought it was fun, but it took me several months to go back again. Polka Dot Pottery is this great place where you purchase the piece you would like to create, and then you get to use all of their stuff to make you "artwork." They fire it up for you and you pick it up. The more times I have done this, the more tricks I learn each time.

January 2008, I really like looking through their books to get ideas, but then just free hand what I want on my dishes. This chips/salsa plate, I thought was pretty fun, I wanted it to have very bold colors, and I did a pretty good job on the red and black (bottom), but I was going for a "platinum" type gray in the center, and was a little disgusted with the result, but it did inspire me to want to try again.

October 2008, This vase was my second project. I liked it, and I really liked the brown color, but as I was getting impatient with how long it was taking me to paint the leaves on it, I got hasty and didn't add quite enough coats to make it look like a solid color.

November 2008, I liked this snowman plate because I created it mostly on my own, but once again was a little disappointed when I picked it up, and hadn't applied enough coats to make it really bold.

February 2009, Finally! Now, even though I don't think this was perfect, I finally was happy with my paint job! It took me much longer because I was determined to make sure their would be no lighter areas. Carson was excited when we picked it up because he realized Easter must be coming soon.
It's so much fun to go hang out with girls, for a night out, and then get to come home with something to show for it!
Hmmmm, I wonder what I'll come up with next month??

Looks like fun. I have always wanted to do it. I almost stopped by this Christmas but didn't. We should go together sometime. :0
