As a small child, I can remember a time shortly before Christmas when my Grandma Beach was staying with my two sisters and I while both of my parents were working. We always seemed to get into the most trouble when my grandparents were there... Once Lisa stuck tweezers in the power outlet, neither of us can ever remember a time when we saw our grandpa move faster. Then there was that time when Jenn decided a penny would be a great appetizer. Lisa and I have a vivid memory of my Grandpa Beach and my Dad pounding her on the back and sticking their fingers down her throat to try to get the penny out... She lived! Then there was the time when I decided I was bored so I found my mom's stack of Christmas tri-beads, and wondered what would happen if I stuck one up my nose?? What's a 3 year old to do? Strangely it was very easy to go in, but it just wouldn't come out? I couldn't figure it out. I finally told my Grandma what I had done, and she tried everything! She made me lay on my back and poured some pepper in my nostril hoping it would make me sneeze, then she plugged one side and tried to get me to blow out on the other side, no such luck! Well she finally called my dad and had him come home early from work because she was afraid the bead would stay stuck in my nose FOREVER! My dad took me to the emergency room, and the nice doctor man used these really long pointy tweezers. He told me to hold reeeeally still, and sure enough, out it came.
On the way home, my dad told me what a good girl I had been at the doctor so he stopped to buy me a treat. I was ecstatic. I got home and told my grandma all about it, she was so mad! She couldn't believe that my dad would get me a treat for sticking a bead up my nose!
Anyhow, you can imagine the thoughts that began running through my mind when Carson came up to me to tell me that he had something in his nose... I asked him, what did you stick in your nose? Then he laughed at me and told me, "It's just my finger mom" I laughed, and hope that I never have to go to the emergency room just to remove a bead from his nose!
