Let's go fly a kite, up where the air is right......

The Mary Poppins song keeps running through my head!
As we looked outside, and saw the wind was finally blowing, we decided we were going to take advantage of kite flying weather! Carson with his Lightening McQueen Kite (Vroom, Vroom), and Waylon with his Buzz Lightyear Kite (To infinity & beyond). Before we went out, Ang and I had talked to the boys about holding onto the kite's so they didn't fly away. I told her it wasn't a big deal, "they'll just fall down if you're not holding on anyway." She looked at me and smiled, and then just let it go. We were outside, the weather was perfect for flying, and we had the kites sailing through the sky, vroom, vroom, to infinity & beyond..... Just as Carson let go of his kite. Then Carson and I start chasing his kite, just to watch it get caught on a power line on the roof. After Ang stopped laughing hysterically because we had already had the "don't let go of your kite's" conversation, followed by "they'll just fall down if you're not holding on anyway" She decided she would get a ladder and attempt to save the vroom, vroom kite. She made it onto the roof, only to have the dumb kite get caught up in a tree 10 feet from the house.
After much yanking and pulling, we broke the string, and the dumb kite finally fell out of the tree and blew into the road. Luckily as I chased after it, the nice AVISTA utilites worker didn't hit me. Ironic that the electric company was driving by as we were trying to save the kite from the power lines!
One might wonder, how could the adventure possibly get any better?????
Carson was screaming about his kite, until we finally saved it, and then proceeded to tell Waylon, "Don't let go of your kite buddy" Aarghhh! We took a brief break from kite flying to play with some other outside toys, and then the boys decided we would go back and try again. This time it was Waylon who I'm not sure if he let go of his kite, or just got to close to a tree in the backyard, but "to infinity and beyond" was most definitely trying to go to infinity and beyond. We pulled and yanked until the kite finally came out of the tree, only to get stuck in another tree, alas, we did save the kite!
Garry decided to come over after work and bring his super deluxe Navy Airplane Kite, but of course when the pro got there, the wind decided to be done, and we couldn't keep the kite in flight....Oh well there's always the next windy day (that isn't snowing!)
BTW all of this for two $1 kites, but as they say the memories will always be priceless!

I thought this picture of Carson was so cute, I just had to include it!
